If any of my soon-to-be-ex in-laws (so awkward to type out :-/) are reading this, they might recognize this chair from grandma B’s cabin. This chair has been my albatross of sorts. I’ve had it for years with the best of intentions to reupholster it. My condo HOA sued me over this chair, which cost me over 1k and a ding on my credit report. I had to put the chair in storage, which cost me another $90 bucks a month for a couple of years. I paid to have it moved across state lines.

At this rate, I could have purchased a whole new chair from Design Within Reach. Probably an Eames lounge chair with the ottoman. I’m too far in to turn around now, though. I’m seeing this through. It’s going to be in my tiny house.

I called the Recovery Room yesterday and stopped in to pick out some fabric. I’m finally getting around to having it reupholstered to its mid-1960’s Montgomery Wards glory. Here is the chair in its current state (oh, and note how it coordinates with the filthy window and curtains).

A Chair Only I Could Love

Because I don’t have a lot of living room space and I want to have a place for people to sleep over, I wanted a sofa that was also a sleeper. However, a normal-sized sofa isn’t going to fit in any floorplan I could come up with. At Hansen’s Interiors, I was able to find a chair-and-half that turns into a twin bed. It’s got this really amazing, comfortable memory foam mattress and no bars like those old sofa beds (hint, hint, come visit!). It’s basically a smaller, 57″ version of this:

Now imagine the chair and sofa in these fabrics:

I’m not sure what I was thinking, but I decided to go with a dark fabric for the chair and sofa – in a very tiny space. Maybe I’ll go with some bright accents?  But that’s a problem to solve a few months from now. I think the chair is going to look amazing in that textured fabric and I’m super excited about it. I guess we’ll see how this goes!
